Protecting Children’s Lives: The Necessity and Operation Methods of Children’s Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (cpr)

Every child is the future and hope of the family, but it is inevitable that there will be some emergencies in life that put children's lives in danger. At this time, the importance of pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation (cpr) becomes apparent. Through correct cardiopulmonary resuscitation operations, we can buy precious rescue time for children at critical moments and protect their lives.

1. The necessity of cardiopulmonary resuscitation in children

Because their bodies are not fully developed, children are at higher risk than adults in emergencies such as cardiac arrest. Therefore, timely cardiopulmonary resuscitation in children is particularly important. Proper children's cardiopulmonary resuscitation can temporarily replace the child's heart and respiratory functions, buy time for professional rescue, and improve the success rate of rescue.

2. How to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in children

a.Determine whether cpr is needed: Check whether the child is conscious, breathing normally, and has a pulse. If your child is unresponsive or breathing abnormally, call emergency services immediately and begin cpr.

b.Chest compression: Find the correct position for compression. For infants under 1 year old, the compression position is at the junction of the line connecting the two nipples and the lower edge of the thorax; for children 1 year old and above, the compression position is at the lower sternum. Place the palms of both hands in the compression position and perform compression with appropriate strength and speed to fully rebound the chest. 100-120 compressions per minute.

c.Artificial respiration: Hold the child's nose and blow into the mouth twice. When blowing, ensure that the child's airway is unobstructed, and the blowing time lasts for more than 1 second to make the chest rise. Then perform the next compression and blow.

d.Cycle: After every 30 compressions, perform 2 artificial respirations, and then continue compressions.

e.Continuous cpr: While waiting for professional rescuers to arrive, cpr should be continued until the child regains spontaneous breathing and pulse.

3. Precautions for children’s cardiopulmonary resuscitation

 a. When performing cpr, minimize the time between compressions and blows to maintain an effective oxygen supply.

b. When performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, try to keep the child's airway open and prevent vomitus and respiratory secretions from entering the airway.

c. When performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, pay attention to the child's reaction and changes in vital signs, and adjust rescue measures in a timely manner.

d. Before performing cpr on your child, make sure you are doing it correctly and proficiently.

e. cpr is an emergency rescue measure and should only be used in emergencies. If your child's condition is serious or you are unable to judge the effectiveness of your own rescue, please call the emergency hotline or seek help from professional rescuers as soon as possible.
